Hello fellow members I’m looking for a recommendation for front shocks for my 56 merc mon tclair. I just want a smooth ride not anything for performance. Also how do I adjust my steering box? There is a nut on top that you loosen but the bolt down the middle of it doesn’t have anything to turn.(Usually its a slotted head or hex)

I would definitely use KYB shocks . Should be the same as a 56 Tbird. Have them on my Bird and the car does not dip going into a turn improved handling . When my Mercury needs them will change mine .

Send your email address to me at, and I’ll copy the pages from the service manual and send them back to you. Just twisting on that top nut will make things worse, not better.
