I have a 69 Mercury Cyclone that is 95% original. However the previous owner put headers on the 390 thats in it.I would love to put stock exhaust manifolds on it. I cannot find the part number for the manifolds to make my search easier. If anyone has a 69 cyclone with a 390 i would truly be thankful if you could find the numbers on your exhaust manifold and contact me. I’m pretty sure a 68 cyclone would have the same numbers as well.
If you do you could contact me by email at brewheinlein@hotmail,com
Hi Bruce,
I looked up the part numbers for a 390 and they are C9OZ-9430-B for the Right hand and C7OZ-9431-A for the left side. I looks like the 69 Cougar with a 390 had the same number. I checked my Ford book and the same is true for the Torino/Fairlane and Mustang.
I own a CJ and that has a different manifold. I think they tried to emulate a header somewhat. I do know that those are being reproduced so if you can’t find 390 manifolds, you might take a look at them. The CJ heads have all four possible bolt locations drilled for each port and I have had 390’s in full sized cars in my past that only had two drilled. I would verify that the holes you would need are there if you decide to go that route. One other thing with these. You cannot install one of the sides with the engine in. You have to lay it in the area before you lower the engine back on a rebuild. Ask me how I know.
With the popularity and availability of Mustang parts, I’d be surprised if the 390 manifold isn’t reproduced. I’ve got to think there are a lot more of them running around than 428s
I will also send a copy of this to your email address. Best of luck!
