Who out there has replaced their directional switch and wiring that runs through the steering column?

I looked under the steering wheel today and saw some very ugly wiring. The insulation is cracked and even missing in some spots. The directionals work but I worry a short circuit may occur at any time.

The switch itself is ok. It looks like I would just need to run new wires and solder them to the old switch.

Probably should run a new horn wire at the same time.

What level of trouble am I about to get myself into?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

I did it. Not terribly difficult. Also rewired the light switch, dimmer switch and all new wiring to the headlights, front parking and directional lights. Plenty more to do but I’m enjoying it.

Highly recommended R I. Wire riwire.com for wire and miscellaneous electrical needs.
