Dear Folks,
During a little rework on our Montclair with its 383 engine I checked the shroud at the carburetor air cleaner duct, part # 9-9648. It has some holding clamps at the ends maybe to fix a heat protection mat? Any idea?
Greetings from Germany!

There should be a gasket between the air cleaner and the carburetor. There are some tabs on the bottom of the air cleaner to keep it aligned. gh
Hi,
There seems to be a misunderstanding. I am not talking about the connection between air cleaner and carburetor. There is an air intake hood over the exhaust manifold to get preheated air in winter I guess. This hood, called air cleaner duct, has some clamps underneath. I just don’t know if these clamps are to fix a heat shield mat or are they a kind of spacer to the surface of the manifold?
Hope it is not more abstruse now.
Uwe
