I recently had my ’54 Mercury transmission completely rebuilt. It runs and changes perfectly but the mechanic can not get it to stop leaking. It leaks a small amount about the size of a half dollar ever time it’s parked after driving. The leak seems to be coming from the small plate on the right side of the transmission. Is this a normal problem and does anyone have a fix for this?
I wouldn’t call a leak in a freshly overhauled transmission normal but then if the spot is only the size of a half dollar (maybe a drop or two of fluid) after driving it I don’t think I would have a big concern either. If the leak is coming from a specific area I guess I would look at whatever gasket seals that area and replace it first.
