    Was the 1954 Mercury Monterey coupe interior leather or vinyl?

    Both leather and vinyl were offered.  You can find out which you have by looking at the data plate on the driver’s side door post.  Under “body specif” are some numbers.  The first two numbers are the exterior color and the next three define the interior trim.  Basically, if that number is 477 or above you have a car with a leather interior originally.  If that number is between 467 and 476 the interior was originally vinyl.
