my motor was recently rebuilt I have record the radiator replaced the main thermostat I purchased a 1959 shop manual and found out that the 383 engine has two 140-degree block thermostats I have looked everywhere and cannot fine any, first question does anyone know where I can get two. if they are not available, how do you address water flow going through the radiator to fast. I believe that is the problem. my phone number is 423-309-0379 my name is Mike Baker
Hi Mike,
Let me begin by saying I am not all that familiar with the 383 cu in engine. I also am not really understanding your post. I am pretty sure the 383 only has one thermostat and it is located where the upper radiator hose enters the intake manifold. I also don’t understand the 140 degree thermostat. You can use a 160 degree thermostat without any problem. Those are readily available at any auto parts store. If you want to visit on the phone respond to this post and I will give you a call.
