New member here, Trying to locate my dads’ 62 Meteor 4 door sedan. Black wi. red vinyl interior. White walls, autom. and am radio. Purchased from Frank A. Guns(my uncle) Lincoln-Mercury on 11180 Gratiot in Detroit. Traded in 1965 at same location. Haven’t seen it since. Any info, records, files, etc… relative to it greatly appreciated! Obsessed about finding it in a quest to fully restore the 1st car I remember riding in- I was 3.Thanks!

Is there any possibility of you having the information from the data plate or the serial number?

Unfortunately no. The only info I have is this:
1962 Mercury Mercury Meteor 4 door sedan.
Presidential black paint, red vinyl interior, white wall tires, am radio, automatic transmission.
adress of owner 21125 Woodmont, Harper Woods, Michigan 48236(48225)
name of owner Harold J. Heyka
purchased likely Spring 1962 from Frank A. Guns Lincoln Mercury 11180 Gratiot, Detroit.
Sorry if that’s not enough. I am obsessed with finding this car, as it is the first one I remember riding in- I was3. Iam now 66- go figure.

I looked through the “member directory” for IMOA. You can access it using the box to the upper right on this page. There are only two ’62 Meteors (not counting the one listed by your name). One of them is a four door, the other doesn’t denote what body style. You can search by opening the “member directory” and clicking on the year ’62. One of those Meteors in in California, the other in Illinois. The reality of this situation is that the car no longer exists but I hope I am wrong. Good luck with your search.
