Have a '66 Comet Caliente that was converted to disc brakes before I bought it.Had original single bowl Master cylinder and vacuum booster. Both were leaking so I replaced the vac. booster and upgraded to a duel bowl master cylinder. Seeing that front brakes were from a '68 Fairlane I installed a '68 fairlane master cyl. Rear is from a Lincoln Versailles. Problem is that while the brakes do stop the car the pedal is very low, goes halfway to floor. Another problem is getting enough leverage to e-brake cables for them to operate properly and for the rear disc's to work. Anyone do a similar conversion or able to offer any help? The Fairlane M.C. is a 15/16" bore, brand new.

I just saw the My Classic Car show on SPEED w/a pair of really cool Mercs. Tom Lantz has the coolest 64 Marauder I have ever seen. A Parklane, 4 speed car w/the best interior and a super Marauder motor. It sure was nice to the the big Merc get some TV time. The other car was a real hot rod too. A Cyclone Comet w/a 427 SOHC.....very cool show

Attention John Harvey or Jim Wickel, either needs to write an article for IMOA regarding Truth in Advertising or maybe a class in advertising for "dummies"

How many times have you seen an add for a car that had a "frame off" restoration when the car is clearly a sub-frame car and the frame is not some thing you unbolt and re-attach.

How about RESTORED? Should that mean returned to it's ORIGINAL condition? Maybe re-built would be a better description for something that varifies from the original.

I personally like the term Restomod to describe a restoration/modification.

Anyone else got any to add? I think this would be some funny reading.

I recently had my 49 Mercury flathead engine rebuilt. The rebuilder said it was actually a truck/car engine. He said Mercury built two engines for the 49. One was car only, the other car/truck. I'm having trouble with the water pump brackets fitting to the motor mount. Can anyone give me some info and or advice? The engine has been rebuilt but won't fit because of the water pumps.

During removal of the bucket seats from my Cyclone, a couple of the long studs that go through the floor have broken. The bolts seem to have a square head and are somehow crimped onto the seat track. Has anyone ever come across a replacement solution for these?

During the restoration of my 49 Merc Convertible we discovered the word SPECIAL written in chalk across the back side of the dash panel. Does anyone know what this would signify?

I am restoring a 1949 Merc Convertilbe that my father-in-law purchased brand new in 1948. Although all the paint is gone from it I have the original purchase agreement. The color of the car was lima tan. We have been able to match it but the color is not like any I have seen on any brochures or model cars that I've seen on ebay or on any other web site. Can anyone tell me about the color lima tan or have a picture of a lima tan merc?

It looks to me like the people who post here have serious questions, and do not post simply to fill space. I think that is good, as opposeed to some of the personal insults I see posted elsewhere. Let's keep up the high level of discourse on this site.

I am looking for information concerning the availibility of a 3x2 setup for '59. I have a 430 Parklane convertible that has such a setup. The car had sat since the early 70's but the air cleaner, carbs, fuel pump, all stayed on the car. I want to show it after restoration and I know I will be asked to verify the setup so I need something to document that this was an option, either factory or dealer installed. Any help would be appreciated.
