I find this quite interesting ! I got from eBay a NOS Holley Data sheet, it is for a 'Ford police unit with a Mercury engine' !

It lists a special tea-pot Holley 2140, as well as a Holley(?) Distributor, with full specs for both; it also has detailed engine tune up data.

I tried posting it here, but can't remeber how to do it, if anyone wants it send me your email; anyway here are the two basic P/N's, I looked them up, but did not find them in my '54/55 Merc Parts book.

Carburator: Holley Model 2140 P/N R885A, Ford P/N EBU-9510S-A1

Distributor: Holley Model1275 P/N D-844A, Ford P/N FAE-12127-C

I am very proud that our V8 was chosen for this job, it must have more horsepower but this is not on the sheet.

Has anyone tried those two parts on? Any ideas if they are still available? I would sure like to know how they perform, power/consumtion-wise, as look-wise I presume that they look 100% original, anyway !

Nothing scarier than dim brake/turn lights with a tailgater about to ram you in the back!

It is worst in daytime, I guess nowdays drivers nowdays expect to see bright red or amber strong lights they cannot miss................

I have tried halogen bulbs, they dont do much and they burn easily.

I have not dismantled the lenses, but from the utside there seems to be one more plastic round lens inside the red one; has anyone tried removing it?

I'm also thinking of modifying the Back-up lights with dual filament bulbs, I wonder if this might work.

Has anyone tried the new-type of LED bulbs? They seem stronger, but I wonder how will the flasher unit work with them.

Any suggestions?

One option missing from our '54 Mercs, is an AC for the hot summer days.

I guess it was not offered as an option because there were no 6volt clutches for it, at least that is what I get from all the places that do make AC's for classics.

Has anyone come up with a solution, besides changing to 12volt, which I refuse to do?

I have a newly acquired '54 Mercury. Dual exhaust has been added by changing the manifold, which resulted in less room for the neutral safety switch to go all the way over to allow the car to start in park. Starting in neutral is ok however, sometimes after starting it jumps in gear. Does anyone have a fix to make the safety switch work properly, maybe using a different switch or bracket for the switch, etc.?

1956 Mercury part needed, Hello, would anyone out there know where I could get the Metal apparatus with a nipple on it that screws into the intake manifold just below the carburator where the hose from the power brake booster hooks on to get vaccum to run the booster? I was told that 1953 through 1958 Mercury YBlock would work! I was also told that it came in 2 pieces! One screwed into the intake manifold and the nipple piece screwed into that piece! I have no name for this part so if anyone out there who would maybe be familiar with it could give me some feedback or where I may find this part would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Archie Dunham

Hi I have been trying to find the color code for the paint used on the 1960 Mercury Parklane 430 engine. The closest I have been able to find is a Bronze Gold Ditzler paint code DEE-45 that was used on some of the 1964 Fords. This color looks close but may be a little darker Gold than what is on my motors valve covers. If anyone has the paint code for the Parklanes Gold valve covers I would very much appreciate the help?

Thanks Dave

Hi all:

My first post, and my VERY first classic car after YEARS of thinking about it! I have a beautiful, original 10,100 mile Merc. Probably sat round in a museum unused for many years. She is beautiful, but now that I have motor on and am driving around a few miles 2/3 days a week, I ams seeking a leak(s). The oil is red. Does that mean it is a transmission oil leak? I appreciate any help in troubleshooting and fixing this please. I have her entered in a car show on Oct 9th. Thanks much.

I am looking for information concerning the availibility of a 3x2 setup for '59. I have a 430 Parklane convertible that has such a setup. The car had sat since the early 70's but the air cleaner, carbs, fuel pump, all stayed on the car. I want to show it after restoration and I know I will be asked to verify the setup so I need something to document that this was an option, either factory or dealer installed. Any help would be appreciated.
