If I recall correctly all 1954 Mercury wheels no matter the color of the body were all red and painted on both sides. Does anyone know a correct color code or is Fire Engine Red close enough to be correct? Also, is there a color code for the center of the hub caps?

<p class="MsoNormal">I just acquired a very low miles 368 CID 290 HP engine from
a 1957 Turnpike Cruiser. Along with its original automatic transmission.
I got the motor with intentions of installing it in a Model A hot rod. I am
sure that the trans is good but a hot rod needs to be a 3 pedal car. Were
there any ford bell housings and flywheels to fit these? Is there
anything in particular you or anyone else can tell me that would help with my
search. I really would like to use a Borg Warner T5 5 speed or similar
trans that I can get from a bone yard to give me an overdrive.
This is all new territory to me as I usually tinker about with Chevy I6 and
small V8 engines. By the way I am a machinist and welder so anything that
works with a little massaging is doable for me.

I am a new club member and also new Mercury owner. I had a 47 Mercury convertible, then moved to mid 50's Fords-Crown Vic and still have a couple of 57 Ford Retractables. I would like to learn more about the 56 Mercury Montclair, I had read about the car and some of the reasons Mercury tried to make the Montclair a higher end car---like with the lube system etc. So, is there a club member that is very knowledgable on this car? Could I communicate with you? Thanks. Harold-MN/AZ

Has anyone had this problem and came up with a fix? The front passenger side window crank has come off my '54 Mercury. The original crank had worn spines so I located a better used crank with good spines. The window regulator seems to have good spines and the clip seems to be ok. However, the crank will not stay on the regulator. I see new clips are available on line but don't see how a new one would be any better. Has anyone had this problem with a window crank or inside door handle? The year model does not matter. I believe they all attach with the small clips.

Does anyone know if an original am radio can be easily replaced by an original AM/M radio? I believe the am radios were made by Motorola or Philco while the am/fm radios were manufactured by Bendix so I'm wondering if there's a size difference. TIA

Purchased our Comet approx. two years ago, previous owner started restoration, and we have continued the restoration process over the past two summers. Suspension, drive line, transmission, engine upgrades, electrical and some interior and exterior work has been started and continues. We expect that we will continue restoration over the next two years. This fall we will be rebuilding the 289 engine and will add inprovements for some extra boost.

The restoration has improved the condition well enough to drive to various functions and car shows close to home. As the restoration continues we will be able to go farther. We expect to have our Comet at the Syracuse Nationals,Syracuse, NY next year.

We sent some pictures with our application for membership and do hope that you might consider our Comet for a future issue of the Quick Silver magazine.

Thank you,
